The FNF: Bridging the Art and Science of Financial Management

It is difficult for me to explain how ‘intellectually starved’ I was before cherishing the mental challenge this programme represents. Not only have I come to grasp the basic tenets of finance, but this Course has generated in me a new hunger for knowledge in the field of Financial Management.

The programme faculty come from diverse backgrounds, with different interests and experiences both professionally and academically. Its approach not only shows a tremendously high standard of professionalism but also, through its judicious choice of subjects, concretizes the theoretical aspects of finance by illustrating up-to-date, relevant and well-researched examples and exercises. I have thus come to realise that Financial Management is more an Art than a Science.

The hands-on case-based teaching is exactly what I was looking for, and I must admit that my initial narrow vision of the topic has developed into a wide-angle horizon. I have enjoyed the hours spent pre-reading and summarising my course notes which I will, without any doubt, be using when faced with financial challenges.

I recently even managed to explain what’s really behind NPV (Net Present Value) to people who had only a vague idea of what it was about, something I could never have imagined doing prior to embarking on this programme. Thus, I will always consider the FnF an unforgettable experience and a milestone in my career.

Now I know that I will be able to tackle new academic and professional challenges and that I will be able to more competently read and understand an annual report, ask relevant, pertinent questions, and suggest investment or management decisions based on the understanding I have gained.
