Cookies policy

In accordance with article 129 of the Law of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications, Solvay Lifelong Learning informs you that it uses cookies in the context of your connection to and navigation on its sites in order to ensure their optimal functioning and for internal analytical purposes.

What are cookies and what are they used for?

A cookie is the equivalent of a small text file stored on the Internet user's terminal (computer hard disk, tablet, smartphone, or any other device allowing access to the Internet) through the intermediary of his browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.).  Cookies and other tracers do not allow a person to be identified, but they do record information relating to navigation. Servers can read and record this information.

They have different functions and collect and store different types of information, such as the language preferences of visitors, statistics about visitors to a website or ensuring that the website functions in optimal conditions. Some of these cookies are therefore necessary to enable you to access our site in an optimal way. They are automatically installed on your computer, without us having the possibility to ask for your permission. Other cookies are only stored if you give your consent.

Most cookies only work for the duration of a single session or visit. Some cookies are, for example, automatically deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain on your device for a longer period of time (permanent cookies).

Below is an overview of all the cookies we use and their purpose:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are necessary for purely technical reasons for a normal visit to the website. These cookies are set as soon as you access the website. Due to the technical necessity, only an information obligation applies.
  • Functional cookies. These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of these services may not function properly.
  • Analytical cookies. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so that we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are most and least popular and to see how visitors move around the site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. We use the Google Analytics service by Google Inc for which you can read the terms of use and privacy policy. The information generated by these cookies and related to the use of our website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on its servers, in particular in the USA. Google will use this information to provide further services relating to website activity and internet usage. The data will be stored for 14 months. It is possible to install an add-on module in your browser to deactivate Google Analytics. Although the information collected does not pose a risk to your privacy, these cookies will only be placed if you give your permission.
  • Marketing cookies. Marketing cookies track user activity and sessions so that we can provide you with a more personalised service. Marketing cookies are set by third parties with whom we run marketing campaigns. If you identify yourself to us (for example, by filling out a form or signing up for email updates), SLL collects information about your response to our marketing communications and your activity on this website. This information is added to your personal marketing profile and score, which is used to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and to offer you relevant content and services.
