About us

Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management − Solvay Lifelong Learning

Founded in 1903 by Ernest Solvay, renowned Belgian chemical industrialist, the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is a faculty of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, one of the largest universities in Belgium. Ever since, the school has built up a tradition of excellence and innovation in business and economics learning, fuelled by deep connections within Belgium's multi-national entrepreneurial network. It currently holds a leading position in Europe for research and education in the fields of Economics and Management.

Operating within the faculty, Solvay Lifelong Learning (SLL) is the best known and trusted executive education business school in Belgium on a mission to train business leaders and entrepreneurs with the ability to adapt to the ever-changing nature of society and to shape tomorrow’s world. We develop continuous education programmes addressing both young professionals as well as experienced managers and entrepreneurs committed to the logic of personal and sustainable development. SLL covers the main management practices like General Management to more specialised disciplines like Leadership, Digital Transformation, Finance, Innovation, Marketing, and much more. Our programme portfolio includes Open Enrolment Programmes (including short seminars, executive masters, MBA and Advanced Masters) and Customer-specific programmes (fully customised for companies).

Our Network

Assuming an international approach, primarily European, and benefiting from the unique position of Brussels, our mission is to train and inspire talented professionals and individuals to grow and become true leaders and entrepreneurs in their field and support them in their lifelong learning journey. We make sure to systematically adopt a multidisciplinary approach by collaborating with other faculties, initially with other FC operators and ULB faculties, but also involving other academic and socio-economic actors; thus structuring strong relationships with relevant ecosystems, as well.

Our Accreditations

The Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management is accredited by EQUIS, AMBA, and Qfor and is one of the founders of the Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (QTEM) programme, a network of several renowned business schools in full expansion.

The educational activity of Solvay Lifelong Learning is anchored in the values of Excellence, Sustainability, Collaboration, Entrepreneurship, and Free Inquiry, values which the school ensures to embed in all programmes and training. As per the United Nations SDGs, we believe it is imperative that sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the following generations to meet their own needs, and we strive to be a reference of excellence in our sector by leading by example - not only inside the organisation towards our students but also outside, in our community and by extension the world.

With these goals in mind, we place our utmost efforts in instilling the spirit of collaboration and the ability to work in unity and empower our students to innovate, create, and bring new solutions to the business challenges of today. To support and facilitate the above, of course, the freedom to question everything constructively without fear of reprisal is paramount – one could say especially in today’s world – and we encourage all our students to employ critical thinking and engage in constructive debate through their learning journey and on their collaborative or individual missions.
