Advanced Master in Innovation & Strategic Management: Equip yourself for the new wave of change

Marianna Rousaki | Content & Social Media Coordinator 03/08/2021 Innovation, advancedmasters, Strategic Management

The labour market as well as the business environment have seen major transformations. How can one stay atop of these challenges, and be sure to excel in such uncertain times? Arnaud Devleeschauwer, Academic Director of the Advanced Master in Innovation & Strategic Management, and alumni tell us from their experience.

In recent years, it has become more and more evident that rapid socio-economic, environmental, and technological changes have amounted to a complete transformation of the labour market. While the current systems in place seem ill-suited to the structural changes occurring at an increasing pace, innovation becomes the key factor in keeping up with these changes and avoiding obsolescence.

This means that, as businesses and the market are settling into the new normal, new and advanced skills are imperative for managers and entrepreneurs.

Staying ahead of the curve

The Academic Director of one of our Advanced Masters, Arnaud Devleeschauwer, who is also Strategy Manager at ENGIE, spoke to us about the changes observed in his work in recent years and how he prepares his students to face new challenges:

As a teacher within AMISM, I encourage my students to think, to analyse, to decide and to act as if they were active members of my team at work. In the end, I want to make sure that they'll be able to tackle complex business issues from the very first day.

Take it from our alumni themselves: according to a recent Advanced Masters’ alumni survey, about 80% of the program's alumni find themselves applying what they have learned during the programme directly in their current job. A recent graduate tells us:

“All the things I learned throughout the year gave me confidence. I had a toolbox at my disposal where I could pick and choose, and match to the setting of the projects I am tackling. Leading others to the solution gave me a lot of satisfaction.” – Louise Schelstraete, AMISM Class of 20-21, Junior Management Consultant @ Accenture

Solvay is present from the beginning of the programme and well beyond

When you study at the Solvay Brussels School, you are supported from the start of your studies and beyond graduation. We take pride in the fact that 100% of our students and alumni surveyed report that they feel greatly supported by their academic instructors - while 89.5% of our recent graduates attested that the Advanced Master helped them find a job position, current or otherwise. In their recent testimonials, we read:

“[The AMISM programme] opened my perspectives on what I could do in the professional world and made it easy to find a landing spot.” – Pierre Thomee, AMISM Class of 16-17, Data Engineer @ Lucy In The Cloud

“The Advanced Master gave me all the necessary hard & soft skills to successfully pass the recruitment process and stand out in the eyes of the recruiters and my manager.” Romain Jeannaud, AMISM Class of 19-20, Data Strategist @ BNP Paribas Fortis
